BORROWING ITEMS
Most materials may be checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed up to 3 times, as long as no one is waiting for the item. You can renew in person by calling the Library (see below) or by using your online account. We do not charge late fees, but we do expect materials to be returned on time and in good condition. Patrons are responsible for replacing lost or damaged items or paying the replacement fee.
Museum & Park Passes are checked out for three days. The only exception to this is the Hard'ack Pool Pass, which can only be used for 2 days. Our passes are very popular, so we strongly suggest calling ahead to reserve a pass. Please be sure to return passes on time. If a pass is lost, you will need to pay the replacement fee, which can be as much as $450.
Holds can be requested by calling the library or through our online catalog. Once you are logged into your account, click the "Place Hold" button for the item you would like. (Be sure the book title is located at Bent Northrop Memorial Library.) When the book is ready for you, an email notice will be sent. If your book has not been picked up within 2 weeks, it will be passed on to the next person or put back into circulation.
InterLibrary Loan requests can be made at the Library or over the phone. If you are looking for a specific title and it cannot be found in our catalog, we are happy to borrow it from another library for you. Loans from other libraries typically take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. Patrons must be in good standing to request items through ILL (not restricted, no overdue items). Most libraries require a title to be in publication for at least 6 months before they will lend it to another library. If you need a renewal, please call us directly. We will reach out to the lending library to request the extension, and email you if the lender refuses.
